Over the years me and my sisters have tried many different forms of teeth whitening and each have been effective but only one has been long lasting, cheap, and had great results. I want to share all of the different methods of teeth whitening that i’ve tried, how they work, and their benefits.

#1: Oil pulling– To use this method you take a tablespoon of oil and swish it around for 20 minutes and then spit it out. It is a 3,000-year-old Ayurvedic practice used to cleanse teeth and gums of bacteria. Many people use this technique to whiten teeth as well. You have to be very consistent and patient with this method because if you don’t do it over an extended period of time and daily, you probably wont see any results. I personally am not the biggest fan of this method but it is definitely a healthy way to whiten your teeth.

#2: Banana Peels– To whiten your teeth with banana peels you take the peel and rub it all over your teeth and let it sit there for about 10 minutes. Then wipe it off and brush your teeth. Do this everyday for a week and you’ll start to see results. I personally like this method for a quick affordable way to whiten your teeth. I have actually noticed a difference in whiteness after about a week, but I don’t think the results last very long so I don’t do this often.

#3: Get your teeth professionally whitened by a dentist– Dentist can use a higher concentration of hydrogen peroxide to whiten your teeth so they can get your teeth whiter than most, if not all other methods. I have only done this once and I did notice a big difference in the whiteness of my teeth, but for some reason my teeth go back to being yellow quite fast. So for the price it wasn’t really worth it to me because I had to go back to using strips again not long after to keep up the whiteness. I know people who have gotten their teeth professionally whitened years ago and their teeth still look super white so I think results differ depending on your teeth.

#4: Activated Coconut Charcoal Powder/Toothpaste– Using Charcoal to whiten teeth has become pretty popular recently. I have tried a powder and a paste and I didn’t really notice that great of results with either.

#5- Crest 3D whitening strips– These are probably the most commonly used products to whiten teeth. I have seen a difference when using these but they are very expensive and you have to use them of often to keep up the whiteness. I have found other strips that I think work better and are significantly cheaper.

#6- 5 minute whitening gel– You can buy this at Walmart for $5.99. Its cheap and it works but I wouldn’t say the results last very long. Its nice to have just in case you’re in a hurry and you want whiter teeth, but I wouldn’t use it very regularly because I’m not sure how healthy it is for your teeth since it works so fast.

#7: My favorite!: Walgreens Xtreme Whitening Wraps– These are seriously amazing. This is Walgreens generic brand of whitening strips. It comes with 28 wraps for $13.99. Not only are they very inexpensive, but they work amazing too! Your teeth will get super white when using these and the results will last! One of my best friends showed these to me because she was recommended them by her brother who went to dental school. They are the best i’ve used by far!
