Last weekend I had a few hours alone in Salt Lake City, and decided it would be a great day to go to the temple and step away from the world for a bit! As I walked onto the temple grounds, memories flooded my mind of this time of year two years ago when I went through the Salt Lake Temple for the first time…

I had graduated from BYU the day before, and was getting married one week later. My fiance, Jason, and I were meeting some of my family members and friends at the temple before my endowment session, but before we did I wanted to take a moment to soak it all in. I walked around the temple grounds, past the rows of tulips and trees full of white and pink blossoms. It was the perfect spring day. I made my way back to the round pedestal that brides stand on for photos on the east side of the temple grounds. The temple was in full view, and I can remember warm tears rolling down my cheeks as I looked at the temple straight on, knowing that I would be walking through its doors that day. Today was a day I had been preparing for all of my life, and I felt more joy in that moment than I had ever felt before. I knew I was in the right place at the right time.

Imagine the day when you will go through the temple for the first time. Imagine how you want to feel on that day.

Our spiritual journeys are not the same. We will make wrong choices, we will face temptation, we will experience doubt. Those things, you can count on. What makes all the difference is what we do when we make a wrong choice, when the wrong path seems desirable, or when we have questions. Remember your ultimate goal: to make it to the temple. I can’t even describe the feeling of holding that temple recommend in your hand with the peace that you are trying your best. It’s not easy, but being worthy to go to the temple, and staying worthy, is one of the most important things you will ever do.

Set your sights on the temple. Keep it in your view. Imagine the day when you will hold that recommend in your hand and walk through the doors of the temple to continue progressing on your spiritual journey here on earth. The world offers no feeling like it, it is from heaven.
