Lately, I have come to love homemade popcorn! Since it’s so easy to make, it has become one of my go-to snacks, especially for a girls movie night. Homemade popcorn cuts out the preservatives and trans fats found in the microwaveable packages you buy at the grocery store. With under 100 calories per serving, homemade popcorn can be lite, tasty, and healthy! Here’s one of my tasty and healthy recipes:
FYI: Make sure you have a friend to share this with because you might want to eat the entire bowl!
Pop-N-Parm Italian Popcorn!
– 6 tablespoons of unpopped popcorn
– 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
– 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic salt
– 1 1/2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
– 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan
In a tall pot, heat olive oil on medium high heat. Once the olive oil is warm (moves around like water), add the unpopped popcorn and cover the pot. Let it sit for 20-30 seconds.
Vigorously slide the pot back and forth on the burner until the popcorn starts to pop. Let the popcorn pop for 4-5 minutes while shaking the pot occasionally (to help avoid burning).
Once popping subsides, take the pot off the hot burner and add garlic salt and Italian seasoning. Gently toss with a wooden spoon. Toss in parmesan.
Pour in a bowl and eat!
