“How truly beautiful is a well-groomed young woman who is clean in body and mind. She is a daughter of God in whom her Eternal Father can take pride…. Be true to your own convictions. You know what is right, and you know what is wrong. You know when you are doing the proper thing.” ~ President Gordon B. Hinckley

I was just in high school and I know that there is a lot of pressure to dress immodestly. Whether it is for attention, to be in style, or just fit in, immodesty is part of our everyday lives .

I asked one of my guy friends what he thought about modesty. He said, “Modesty, to me, means a lot and definitely makes a difference. When a woman dresses modestly, she shows self-respect and purpose. I immediately know that girl knows who she is, which is a daughter of God, and reflects it by the way she dresses and goes about. It shows me that she has a lot to offer and would be a great wife and mother. It’s super attractive!”

It can be hard sometimes and a battle to choose to dress modestly, but it is worth it. Here are tips that have helped me.

Don’t wear it if:

  • You have to ask someone or yourself if it is too tight, too short, or too revealing.

  • You have to keep adjusting it.

  • Your thoughts are turned inwards about how you look.

  • You think you are going to get the wrong kind of attention by wearing it.

  • You would be embarrassed wearing it in front of your parents, bishop, and Jesus Christ.

But really, when it comes down to it, “you know what is right and what is wrong.”  Choose to be a daughter Heavenly Father can take pride in.
