Fall baking. Need I say more? The smell of spices, the delicious taste of all the classic fall and Thanksgiving dishes, and of course, pumpkin pie. I grew up having homemade pumpkin pie every Thanksgiving, and occasionally on other fall days as well. My great-grandma makes the most delicious (in my opinion) pumpkin pie, and has fed hundreds of people this incredible slice of heaven. I was lucky enough to receive the recipe from her, and I wanted to share it with you!

Great-Grandma’s Delicious Pumpkin Pie

  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • One 15 oz. can of Libby’s 100% pure pumpkin
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ginger
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • One 12 oz. can evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon butter

Cook the mixture in a saucepan on top of the stove until warm and the butter melts (do not boil). Pour into an unbaked pie crust tin. Bake at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes, then turn down the heat to 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 45 minutes. Put a knife in the center of the pie, and when it comes out clean, it’s done!

You can either use homemade pie crust, or store bought pie crust to serve as the base of the pumpkin mixture. To finish the pie, top it with whipped cream, and serve it up! This is the perfect dessert for any get together – especially Thanksgiving. If the mouth-watering aroma of this pie baking doesn’t get you in the fall spirit, I assure you, the taste will!
