Bonjour from Paris!! I’m finishing up a trip here but wanted to take a minute to introduce myself and let you know how thrilled I am to be a part of the Blossom Team!
To help you get to know me a little better, I thought I would tell you about a few things I brought in my luggage that I felt I couldn’t go a week without!
1. My Husband
Okay, I didn’t pack him in my luggage but I had to include him! Jason is my favorite traveling companion. He is so organized, optimistic and spontaneous and he has made this trip such a blast!
2. My Journal
I am a major journaler (I even studied journalism in school, that’s how much I love it!) and knew I would be having some memorable experiences in France that needed to be recorded! Here was my dilemma though… do I really want to use the week I have in Paris just writing in my journal every evening? No way!
So here’s what I’m doing: each night I write down bullet points of what we did that day (where we went for breakfast, what museums we visited, silly things that happened), then on the flight home I’ll fill it all in! This method works in everyday life as well. If you prefer journaling once a week, make a note in your phone of what you did that day, how you felt, or what inspiration you received, then on your least busy day set aside an hour or two to write! You’ll never regret it.
I’m a big snacker, especially because I’m four months pregnant! I am due July 27th and we find out the gender next week!! For this trip, I always have a supply of apple cinnamon Nutri Grain bars, dehydrated apples, and original Goldfish (Not cheddar! You have to try them!) in my purse just in case a crepe stand isn’t nearby and I start to get nauseous – ha!
4. A Camera
I decided against bringing a big camera (I was so worried something would happen to it, and I didn’t want to carry it around all day!) and have used my phone for every photo I’ve taken! I also love little videos (I’m a videographer, how can I not?!) so I make sure to get a few clips a day. Remember though that while it’s fun to document exciting things, it’s also wise to know when you’ve taken enough photos to remind you of that moment in time so you can put your camera away and just be present!
Digital scriptures have made traveling and continuing daily scripture study so much easier! Even though I’m on vacation, I make sure to never take a vacation from the scriptures. No matter what we’re doing in life, spending time studying and pondering — even just for a few minutes — is always a good use of time.
Thanks for reading! I can’t wait to share some posts I’ve been working on with you!
