In the For the Strength of Youth pamphlet, it explains “to have good friends, you need to be a good friend.” In order to be a good friend, you should…

  • Treat others how you want to be treated
  • Go out of your way to make others feel welcomed, loved, and good
  • Listen to what others have to say
  • Always be the better person
    • Talk highly of others
    • Make others want to be in your presence
    • Make friends with EVERYONE no matter their race, religion, or gender

Also, the For the Strength of Youth pamphlet states, “They [friends] will influence how you think and act, and even help you determine the person you will become.” My mom always told me when I would walk out the door to hang out on the weekends that “You are who your friends are.” There is a similar quote to what she told me that is “Choose your friends wisely for you will tend to be like them.”  I could not agree more with these statements. While on the Cougarettes, I gained 18 new friends that I not only called my best friends but also called my sisters. These girls are pure, fun, kind, sincere, and incredible people. Everyday they helped me become into the young women I am today. I was able to progress and change for the better because of these girls and I will be forever grateful for their example in my life. They are the perfect example of how to be a good friend by their acts of service and continuous love they show everyone they come in contact with.
